Fantastic 4
First appearance: November 1961
Creator: Stan lee, yack kirby (Marvel comics) Featured Secondary Series:
- Marvel Two-In-One: starring The Thing and another character, who changed with each issue.
- The Thing: dedicated solely to The Thing.
- Fantastic Force: short-lived series, starring Franklin Richards, temporarily turned adult, and his group.
- The Fantastic 4 2099: The Fantastic 4 traveled in time to 2099. It lasted 4 issues.
- 4: framed in the Marvel Knights line, with the same protagonists as the original series.
- FF: formed first by Mr. Fantastic, Thing, the Invisible Woman, Spider-Man, Dr. Doom, Reed's father, Franklin and Valeria Richards, and their friends, originally replacing the title Fantastic Four but then continuing as a title parallel.
- FF (Marvel Now): its members are Ant Man, Hulka, Medusa and a girlfriend of Johnny. They are the substitutes left by the original four while they go on a mission to unexplored spaces.
The comics

Characters:
- Mr. Fantastic: (Reed Richards), a genius scientist, can
stretch, twist, and reshape his body to inhuman proportions. Mr. Fantastic
serves as the father figure of the group, and is "appropriately pragmatic,
authoritarian, and boring."
- Invisible Woman: (Susan Storm), Reed Richards' girlfriend (and eventually wife), has the ability to bend and manipulate light to make herself and other people invisible. Stan Lee did not want Sue to have supreme strength, "to be Wonder Woman and to hit people"
- Human Torch: (Johnny Storm), Sue Storm's younger brother, possesses the ability to control fire, allowing him to project fire from his body, as well as the power to fly. This character is loosely based on another Human Torch character published by Marvel's predecessor Timely Comics in the 1940s, an android that could surround itself on fire.
- Thing: Also known as the Thing or the Mole (Ben Grimm), Reed
Richards' college classmate and best friend, has been transformed into a
monstrous, scrawny humanoid with rock-orange skin and super strength. Thing is
frequently filled with anger, self-loathing, and pity about his new existence.
